Right before Christmas, my beloved Palm Pilot slowly began to shut down. First, I noticed that although I could sync it to my computer, I couldn't charge it fully. Then it started turning off while I was in the middle of using it. Pretty soon, it wouldn't start up at all. In despair, I emailed the people at Palm only to find that they are a useless group of ignoramuses (surprisingly this actually is the plural form of 'ignoramus', not 'ignorami'); one of the worst companies I have ever met in terms of customer service. It was clear from the stock response I received from their IT people that they hadn't even bothered to read my email. I was left to fend for myself. Gathering my wits about me, with the miracle that is the Internet as my ally, I figured out that the problem probably lay in my battery. So I bought a screwdriver set and a battery off of Ebay for less than a dollar, I googled the instructions to replace the battery on my own and success! The Palm works and I am back in commission.

To the incompetent idiots who run the IT department at Palm: HA!!! You thought you could suck me in by making me completely reliant on your product to manage my life. And then when I was hooked and my Palm failed you thought that your inferior IT support would force me into spend $500 for new one. But I win! And this one's for all the little people.

Supportive treatment is what we do when we don't know what else to do. The patient is either a) going to get better anyways or b) going to die anyways. So you do what you can do make them comfortable and you let the situation resolve itself either for better or for worse. Long distance relationships are a lot like that. You can't actually DO anything. So you talk and you support and you just hope that the whole situation will fix itself.

Ugh, Peds call is hard and long and unrelenting. And because it's RSV season, it was the same thing all night long. And not in the cool ACDC way. Dezzie no sleepie.

When I finally got out of the hospital, I made my way down to the bookstore. As I was signing the Visa receipt for my horrendously overpriced, but beautiful colorful Nelson Essentials of Pediatrics, the clerk told me that my signature didn't match that which was on the back of my card. I looked again and realized that I had scrawled 'SI3' beside my name. More sleepie.
